Formed in the 1960's and based in the Nelson area of Lancashire, the Pendle Charity Football Leagueoffers Sportsmen of the district the chance to emulate their Professional heroes.
With three Divisions and five Cup Competitions each season there is plenty of opportunity to collect some much coveted silverware too.
Matches are played on Sunday mornings with evening fixtures being played at the start and end of each season, usually on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Referees are supplied by the Nelson and Colne Referees Society and pitches are maintained by Pendle Borough Council. The League currently uses Swinden, Trawden Rec, Bull Holme, Holt House, Bent Head, Sough Park and Victory Park but Clubs may, at the discretion of the Management Committee, use an alternative venue.
The League is affiliated to the Lancashire Football Association and each season the LFA must approve the League rulebook. The LFA also govern on the field disciplinary matters.
The Leagues Management Committee is made up a President, Vice President, Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Fixtures Secretary, Results & Registrations Secretary, Minutes Secretary, two Trustees and representatives from the Member Clubs. This Committee meet monthly to discuss the day to day business of the League. General Meetings, to which all Clubs must send a representative, are also held monthly.
There are currently 30 Member Clubs, coming from Burnley, Nelson, Reed, Barrowford, Colne, Barnoldswick, Brierfield and surrounding areas.
The League has enjoyed great success over the years and that is due to the hard work put in by all the Committee Members, Club Officials and Players.
The League has also managed to raise over £3,500 for charity in recent years and can be proud of its place in the local community.
